Gopalakrishna Menon/Smt.Saraswathy

Sri E G Menon was born on 19-01-1919 at Engandoor house in “makam” star.His brief autobiography is in the only book he has written.Early demise of his father when he was only16,virtually terminated his college education.

He married Smt.Saraswathy on 25-03-1953.They knew each other since childhood and it was a love marriage.His father in law who was a strong supporter of Congress Party,was initially against this alliance as he did not want his daughter marrying a communist.But later he yielded.

Smt.Saraswathy Amma.(03-08-1929)
The only daughter of Sri.T.R.Iyengar and Smt.Janaky amma was born in 1929.
She had the schooling at Kodungallore,Ernakulam and Irinjalakuda.She had an impeccable academic record and received scholarship from the Government throughout her studies. She passed SSLC from Girls High School Irinjalakuda in First Rank in1945 in the then Cochin State.She did the Intermediate at Maharaja’s College,Cochin and stood first among girls.She went on to do Medicine at Stanley Medical College,Madras and completed MBBS,in 1952 .After internship,joined Medical college,Trivandrum as Lecturer in Pathology in 1954 and worked for two years.She then opted for the Kerala Health Services and worked for the next 30 years in various parts of Kerala .She workedinTrivandrum,Neyyatinkara,Alleppey,Chalakudy,Wadakkanchery,Kodungallore.She was the DMO at Trichur and retired in 1984 as the Additional Director of Health Services.She presently lives in Trichur.

Sri.E G Menon and Smt.Saraswathy amma have four children,3 boys and a girl.
